Investigators Present:  Laura, John, and Keith;   along with residential owners/renters

Site History

The house was built in 1830 and is said to have been built by the same person who built the local library.
This house was once a 5 BR with 2 baths and was recently   redesigned by the current landlord to rent out as two separate units.
Records indicate ownership dating back to March 1928, with land being deeded out in varying parcels.
Old love letters have been found during renovations, prior to the current residents arrival and have been
donated to the local historical society.
Electrical system has been updated from a fuse box to a circuit box.
Basement foundation is constructed of old fieldstone.
May 2007 the current residents moved into the rental space and began to have experiences and paranormal activity. No history of prior paranormal experiences noted.
This couple is requesting help to manage the experiences they are having.  Residents are worried about illness the husband is having; medical doctors are unable to determine cause of recent sickness.

Nature of the Haunting

Missing objects/objects moving on their own; objects reappeared in odd places; resident denies having moved them there.
Pet cat is observed "playing with the air" and curling up purring as if being petted or scratched by someone unseen.
Cats’ toy, a heavy ball with large holes in it, is observed rolling back and forth by itself several times by both renters.
Cat sits facing the wall and meows non-stop for 10 minutes.
Cat has become recently "vicious"; and cat attacks for no reason.
 (animal has not been fixed yet)  Cats’ appetite has increased.
Both renters experience feelings of being watched in the bathroom, see dark shadows moving from right to left blocking outside light source.
Bathroom light buzzes loudly and flickers; all household lights have had to be changed within a week of each other. 
Microwave began randomly beeping when renter was not in the room, display reads "PF" (power failure) and “F3” (error code); trial of clearing display was unsuccessful; upon leaving room beeping begins again, and again stops upon reentry into room.
Owners/renters both have been touched or tickled by unseen hands and awoken from sound sleep.
Female renter reports having heard whistles and reports feeling a "presence" come into the car with her.
Female reports "activity" increases when she is alone in house.
Female has seen a full body apparition of a man from the 1800's with dark curly hair, dark eyes and facial hair, wearing a uniform with double breasted buttons, waist line buttons, and tall boots standing on the stairs leading to the second floor and walked into the wall.  (Female feels this spirit is kind and protective of her).
Male has been ill, throwing up most mornings over the past several months, has seen physicians and cleared of most common stomach ailments.
Wife reports her husband has become "very moody" recently.

Observations/ Activity/Evidence

Basement
Damp and dark; could not see if there is water damage secondary to darkness.
Foundation is made of fieldstone.
High levels of EMF around conduit boxes*
Observed old wiring through the walls
BX cabling
Bathroom
Clicking sounds heard in shower area
Female renter hears tapping while investigators are in basement
K2 reading to 9mG
Living room
EMF meter max out reading
High EMF readings by the couch and bed these levels increase as detector approached floor level*
Power was cut and both meters EMF and K2 read zero (0)
Cat toy trial of rolling, requires force to do so, ball is odd shaped, air assistance not likely.
Microwave F3 error is a code for "keypad error".
Hardwood floors where shadow was seen, unable to determine if area was a doorway prior to renovations
Angle replication (from where female was sitting on couch) view of stairway from couch would make height of a man approximately 5' 6" tall.
EVP session K2 meter went from 0 to 10 mG for a few seconds in response to questions
 (power has been cut)
Both male/female renters are present and hold K2 meter, and asked questions
Male is observed talking "normally" with the spirits living in "my" house"
and lowers any attitude displayed towards wife for discussing paranormal experiences with us.
Female renter has room devoted to meditation/spirituality this room is full with healing/crystals/potions; this room is not shared with her husband.
Female openly reports seeing peoples “auras" and "dead people" every day and
she wishes to discuss this subject more with knowledgeable persons.

Observations

Electrical system not updated to accommodate two families.
Over use of electrical outlets in kitchen area (power strip to allow 6 plugs to power off it--all are full)
Humming/flickering lights could be caused by overuse of outlet strips.
Husband feels ill in morning but feels better at work (EMF causes nausea, skin irritations, paranoia etc).
Many reflective surfaces, mirrored table, cut glass/stained glass window.
Cat going "nuts"
 Cat is still a kitten, not neutered yet, cats do have “night time crazies” to get out natural energy, and can ‘attack’ for no reason
Meditation room is full of herbs, incense, oil, candles
 Observed bags in draw that are labeled "Catnip"
 Other bags observed in open spaces as well.
There is evidence of mice in the apartment as well, with feces noted in some areas.

No photos or EVPs recorded
No anomalies observed in IR video footage

Conclusion

There are many things going on here, primarily very high EMF readings.  EMF sensitivities can cause many of the symptoms the husband is experiencing (i.e.  nausea, vomiting, paranoia, seeing things, skin irritations, headaches…etc.). 
* EMF is leaking up from the basement level, this explains why the detector gets higher readings as it gets closer to floor level in living room.  The couch is just above the conduit box in basement.  This is also where the female was sitting when she viewed the “apparition of soldier” on stairway.
Many reflective surfaces noted through out the apartment that may be reason for the cat chasing a “white bird-like” creature.  Cats are very sensitive to catnip and can become vicious when “drunk” with catnip; can also react the same way to mint plant family (spearmint, peppermint).  Cats also have what is called “night-time crazies” basically releasing any energy that would be used in the wild for hunting nocturnally.
With evidence of mice in the apartment, the cat could hear mice in the walls explaining why it stares at the wall and cries.  Also noted, the cat is not yet neutered.

We suggest the couple speak to the landlord about the current electrical situation and get the required updates and see if the lights buzzing, malfunction of microwave and husbands illness will dissipate.
